These are the things I try my hardest to do, to be socially conscious.

At work I...

• use biodegradable bin bags
• compostible bin liners
• biodegradable tea bags
• paper towel to cover the couch is composted,
• I haven't yet found a better way to cover the couch, unfortunately the paper arrives in plastic.
• electricity is off as much as possible, sometimes you'll see me sat with a lamp on and a wooly hat!
  
• I do use heaters and heate blankets for treatments, they're turned on just before the treatment.
• biodegradable cleaning wipes are used and washable cloths.
  
• 1 cup kettle
• Washing is air dryed when possible, using metal pegs that last a lifetime!
• Car share or public transport when possible if on mobile visits
• Re-purposed or given items decorate my studio
• Minimal printing
• Biodegradable gloves
  
• oils and ointments packaging is recycled
  
• Signs made from wood and burnt into by me, rather than printing on plastic.

At home, as well as the above I:

• Compost all food peelings etc in my allotement compost bins.
• I don't throw away food unless I really have too, it makes for some interesting dishes!
• Re-use, upcycle, freecycle - as well as FB market place, check out Community scrapstore, Somerset Wood recycling and James Scotts Reuse project for all your house and craft projects!
• I mostly buy second hand items.

Volunteering

• I try to help when I can with Friends of Grove Park.
• In lockdown I had time to set up a website and social media channels for them.
• My partner and I started the tree naming project in the park.
• We have one car between us and minimise it's use, opting to walk the majority of the time and when we do use it we try to make multiple uses in one journey. For example a shopping day might also include a trip to the allotment or picking something up from marketplace!
